Direction problem

edit

As now written, the infobox says that Essex Street is the next station north, and Canal Street the next station south.

Unfortunately, the Essex Street infobox says that Bowery is the next station north. This leads to the paradox that Bowery is north of Essex Street, yet Essex Stret is north of Bowery.

The root of the problem is that, on the original BMT, all lines had the Manhattan terminal as "railroad north," and Chambers Street was the terminal. Therefore, Chambers Street was "north" of both Canal Street and Fulton Street.

I think the correct solution is to use the infobox to portray "route north" and "route south" (as the passenger would see it), not "chaining north" and "chaining south." As far as I can tell, the only station infobox that needs to change is Essex Street. Marc Shepherd 15:59, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think we should just use the infobox as the way the service is today. Broad Street is south and Jamaica and Queens is north on the current line. The Legendary Ranger 11:45, 13 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
