Nazi Gold

edit

What evidence is there? there isn't a source

This may be a bit late, however I've come across a reference to this after quickly searching for "nazi gold auckland island" on Google. The website I found no longer is displayed but Google had the page cached so I found this quote about it.

"Rumours of Nazi gold stashed at sea more than 50 years ago have surfaced after a Blenheim man's trip to the Auckland Islands this week. Mr Carey said he has successfully identified two big objects on the seabed near the Auckland Islands. "They didn't bring it all the way from Germany if it was old tin cans," he said, referring to a theory that a German U-boat had stashed gold underwater during World War 2." [ Fairfax New Zealand Limited :: 2005-09-30 ::" this is the link to the page Google cached as of March 27, 2008 20:21:59 [1] ZerglingChamp (talk) 22:21, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

This is associated with New Zealand. What is its legal status? Is it "protected" environmentally. Can a boat moor there? Is this all supposed to by a secret, so as not to draw attention the place, thereby "protecting" it? DCDuring (talk) 13:44, 17 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

@DCDuring: I've added a Legal Status section that hopefully addresses your questions.Herewhy (talk) 00:39, 26 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
