Pali Article?

edit

Because of Tropical Storm Pali's rarity and unusual pre-season strength, does anyone think that there should be an article for Pali?HurricaneGonzalo (talk) 21:42, 8 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

The season section should suffice for it given lack of land impact. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 21:45, 8 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Cyclonebiskit Here's the draft. HurricaneGonzalo (talk) 23:38, 10 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hurricane Alex has its own page in the Atlantic and it was equally unusual (edit: perhaps even less so, being weaker) so I don't see why not. Regards, Buttons0603 | talk to me | 11:17, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hurricane Alex prompted hurricane warnings for the Azores and brought impact there. Pali did not affect land.TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 18:16, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Decided to be WP:BOLD and created the article by redirecting that draft. Regards, Buttons0603 | talk to me | 11:19, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

2015-16 Tropical Depression Nine-C

edit

Having spilled over from 2015 into 2016 (dissipating 1 January), shouldn't 2015's TD Nine-C also be included in this article? Regards, Buttons0603 | talk to me | 11:22, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

It should be mentioned but not made out to be a big deal since it barely was in the season.Jason Rees (talk) 11:36, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Pali TD 9C should be mentioned but not given a section, because, technically, it was part of the 2015 season. United States Man (talk) 18:19, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Pali formed in January 2016, it certainly deserves a section. Unless you meant 9C, which formed in 2015, which I agree should just get a brief mention. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 18:33, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I wasn't paying attention to what I was typing. United States Man (talk) 18:36, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thankyou. I was going to add it myself but held off, with it being an unusual event I wasn't sure what was the correct practice. Regards, Buttons0603 | talk to me | 09:22, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

01E's Forecast track map

edit

Hi guys. Can anyone find 01E's Forecast track map in Wikimedia commons? I can't find it. However I am sure I did remember seeing a forecast track map used when 01E was active. I am just trying to group images into categories in commons that's why. Thanks! Typhoon2013 (talk) 19:53, 2 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've noticed that some of these were directly uploaded to Wikipedia, skipping Commons. Some were transferred, but this one may not have been. United States Man (talk) 03:06, 3 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Typhoon2013: On a separate note, I think you named One-E's commons category as Two-E by mistake. ~ KN2731 {talk} 03:08, 3 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@KN2731: Omg did I? Sorry I was on a rush. I'll fix it ASAP after I've done my important edits. Thanks for spotting! :) Typhoon2013 (talk) 03:16, 3 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Found the guy, guys. @Francjñg: Please upload properly and the image should be in Wikimedia commons (I don't know how you did in Wikipedia though). Also please provide the source, licence and at least a brief information about the image. Otherwise the image will subsequently be deleted. We don't want an important image to be deleted in our Wikiproject. Please keep this in mind in the future. Thanks. Typhoon2013 (talk) 04:50, 3 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Season Summary Map and Tropical Storm Agatha Track Map

edit

Hi guys, I've noticed that the season summary map is outdated and the Agatha tropical storm track map is missing. Where would the Hurdat2 data files be for these such that they can be updated? Alternatively, could someone help to update them? Thanks.
BC kringle (talk) 14:00, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

You have to create the HURDAT 2 type data for the trakc generator using the tracking data available from NHC/NRL. @Cyclonebiskit: knows more than me about this though.Jason Rees (talk) 14:57, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@BC kringle: I was a bit lazy and forgot to upload Agatha's track when advisories ceased :P It's uploaded now though and available. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 17:41, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Image for Blas??

edit

Hey, guys. So now, Blas is weakening and should dissipate within 2-4 days. Blas' peak had already happened, and there is no image for Blas yet. Of course, in the real infoboxes, the storm image should be when it is at (or close) to its maximum intensity. I couldn't find any image from worldview (NASA) which contains a clear Cat 4 Hurricane Blas during the 5th to 6th, as there are black lines around it. @Meow: @Supportstorm: Find any? Typhoon2013 (talk) 11:56, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sorry never mind, forget this message. The EarthData Gallery / NASA, LANCE had just updated their site and contained a Blas image. Sorry, should've checked before I made this post. :P Typhoon2013 (talk) 12:00, 7 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
should blas get it's own article?--107.77.227.63 (talk) 19:02, 11 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@107.77.227.63: sorry for not replying right away. In my opinion, I would say that Blas does not deserve to have an article. Typhoon2013 (talk) 08:39, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Celia track

edit

Ok it's been nearly 2 day since Celia dissipated. Can someone please publish the track for Celia?? Typhoon2013 (talk) 23:04, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Celia dissipated now, or it crossed to WPAC? ABC paulista (talk) 16:46, 22 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Possible Darby article

edit

@United States Man, Cyclonebiskit, Jasper Deng, CycloneYoris, Typhoon2013, and Jason Rees: I've been working on an article for Hurricane Darby in my sandbox, since it's forecast to make landfall on Hawaii within the next 24 hours. Everyone is welcome to help :) ~ KN2731 {talk} 14:49, 23 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to publish, since it is almost certain to have enough content to justify its own page. YE Pacific Hurricane 17:37, 23 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, an article is certainly warranted. Darby is sure to hit Hawaii head on. United States Man (talk) 19:21, 23 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for mentioning me :) I'll see what I can add to the article. CycloneYoris (talk) 20:12, 23 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I've published the article (by copy-paste), but the content is rather brief and limited since I was quite hasty in writing it. I've left a construction tag at the top for now. ~ KN2731 {talk} 10:41, 24 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Will Madline get an article?107.77.230.210 (talk) 20:56, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

JMA TD track in season summary track??

edit

@Jason Rees: @Supportstorm: Because the a TD was monitored (by the JMA) over in this basin, is it also worth showing its track in the EPac's Season summary map?? This system is even mentioned in the WPac summary map. Typhoon2013 (talk) 09:22, 19 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I am not involved in the track map production i this basin but i would suggest that @Cyclonebiskit: or whoever is doing the map adds it in.Jason Rees (talk) 23:28, 22 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Jason Rees: I pinged you because you were the one who decided to make the section about this TD in this page, right? Typhoon2013 (talk) 07:17, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
I do not have access to the track map generator, as a result its not my call to add it in to the track map.Jason Rees (talk) 10:45, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Data for the JMA depression is from the OPC weather map. I don't think it would be a good idea to include the undocumented depression in this summary map since the CPHC never tracked it and the OPC area of responsibility is outside where the storm happened. I only included it in the West Pacific summary map because the JMA had tracked it prior to it entering the basin. Supportstorm (talk) 16:20, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the response @Supportstorm: - its appreciated, though just as an FYI the depression never entered the WPAC so it shouldnt really be on the WPAC map.Jason Rees (talk) 17:14, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Oh, it did. Just the JMA stopped tracking the depression on their weather maps just before it entered the basin. The OPC, however did not. Supportstorm (talk) 20:34, 24 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Location for "Actual activity"

edit

I see that the "Actual activity" lists 1 major hurricane for the CPAC, that being Madeline. Madeline did indeed become a major hurricane in the CPAC, but it was named out of the EPAC list. Do we add storms to the Actual activity list based on where the storm achieved a given status, or based on the basin in which it received its name? Then I noticed that Actual activity lists 7 hurricanes in the EPAC, one of them being Madeline, even though Madeline became a hurricane in Advisory 11 in the CPAC. So it became a hurricane and a major hurricane in CPAC, but counts for the EPAC's stats for hurricanes and CPAC's stats for major hurricanes -- whatever the rule is, it's not being applied correctly for one of the stats. Can we get a clear answer on this? I vote for basing it on whether it was named from the EPAC or CPAC list for simplicity's sake. DOSGuy (talk) 00:02, 30 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

It's suppose to be from where it was named. YE Pacific Hurricane 03:13, 31 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
