He then joined the Mirror Group, owned by British press magnate Robert Maxwell, which operated in Israel and had purchased Maariv, a newspaper based in Tel Aviv. However, Lukatch soon resigned and joined Haaretz, where he served as deputy editor. There, he worked at daily desk, and eventually became the editor of their "Gallery".[3][4]

Seeking more involvement in current affairs, Lukatch transitioned to the night desk at Haaretz, and in 1995, Lukatch joined Israeli Channel 2. He started as a sub-editor for the main news program and later became the editor of the program "Seder Olami" (World Order). He was subsequently appointed as a culture reporter, and in 2005, he became the editor of the program "Olpan Shishi" (Friday studio).[citation needed]
