Crenotherapy is the set of techniques and knowledge implemented during a thermal cure in a medical spa.

A thermal cure is a medical treatment prescribed by a doctor (general practitioner or specialist) which takes place in a thermal establishment over three weeks (in France), during which the patient is treated for his condition with the natural mineral waters of thermal springs and by their derived products, such as (CO₂-)gas, peloid mud, etc.

Heir to a practice dating back several centuries, the therapeutic effectiveness of some thermal treatments remains of low level of proof and divides the medical profession.[1]
