History

Formation and Early Years

edit

Boi's was formed in 2019 by college friends Aina Roxas, Kel Venturero, and Fran Andrino. The name "Boi's" originated from their term of endearment for each other. Initially, they performed under the name "Penzilcase" but later changed it to Boi's. They started performing in local bars and restaurants around Bulacan. A year after forming, they met Fahr Faisal, who helped manage, produce, and publish their music. As of now, the band has released six songs, starting with "Mapanghusga,"[2] written by Aina Roxas, which addresses the judgment they faced in the music industry.

SLT and First EP

edit

A year after releasing "Mapanghusga," Boi's released "SLT (Storya Lang 'To)" on July 10, 2021,[3] written by lead guitarist Justine Bargado, inspired by a love driven only by fantasy. In 2022, they released their first EP, "Paghilom,"[4] which included two songs: "Yakap ng Pag-ibig" written by Kel Venturero, about finding one's home, and "Liko" written by Fran Andrino, which talks about healing from the pain of love.

Recent Activities

edit

In 2023, the band released their first acoustic single, "Can I Love You?" [5] written by Aina Roxas. On June 14, 2024, they released "Sariling Digmaan,"[6] also written by Roxas, which tackles silent battles and personal pain. Boi's continues to perform at both public and private events, including appearances on PTV's "Rise and Shine Pilipinas."[7] They also performed at an IT-BPO event for then Vice President Leni Robredo during the 2022 Philippine national elections.[8]
