The Haydar-Khana Mosque, which was one of the landmarks described by Ibrahim al-Durubi in his work

As stated by al-Durubi himself in the conclusion of the work, the aim of al-Baghdādīyūn, akhbāruhum wa-majālisuhum was to compile and write history of the city of Baghdad, with regards to its people, landmarks, and historical events.[3][1] Chapters of the book detail the activities of influential people who served roles in political, governmental and religious positions, for example the Hanafi scholar and former Mufti of Iraq, Mahmud al-Alusi.[3][1] Contemporary descriptions of various landmarks in Baghdad are also included in later chapters, for example the Haydar-Khana Mosque and the madrasa which is attached to it.[3][1]
