editThe Yankees finished the 2023 season 82–80, good enough for fourth place in the AL East. They will look to improve on that record in 2024 under the guide of Aaron Boone, who is expected to enter his seventh year as manager of the Yankees.

edit- December 1 – claimed outfielder Oscar Gonzalez off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians.[2]
- December 5 – acquired outfielder Alex Verdugo from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for right-handed pitchers Greg Weissert and pitching prospects Richard Fitts and Nicholas Judice.[3][4]
- December 7 – acquired outfielder Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres to a one-year contract to $31 million contract (avoiding arbitration)[5] and his teammate, outfielder Trent Grisham in exchange for right-handed pitchers Michael King, Jhony Brito, and Randy Vásquez and pitching prospect Drew Thorpe, along with catcher Kyle Higashioka.[6]
- December 11 – acquired left-handed pitcher Victor Gonzalez and infielder Jorbit Vivas from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for infielder Trey Sweeney.[7]
- December 14 – acquired cash considerations from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for outfielder Billy McKinney.[8]
- December 19 – claimed infielder Jeter Downs off waivers from the Washington Nationals.[9]
- December 26 – acquired right-handed pitcher Cody Morris from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for outfielder Estevan Florial.[10]

edit- January 4 – claimed outfielder Bubba Thompson off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds.[11] The team also signed right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet from the Miami Marlins to a $750K major league contract and a $200K minor league contract.[12]
- January 11 – signed right-handed starting pitcher Marcus Stroman from the Chicago Cubs to a 2-year $37 million contract. If he reaches 140 innings pitched in 2025, he gets a player option for 2026 worth $18 million.[13]
- January 19 – signed right-handed starting pitcher Luke Weaver to a one-year, $2 million contract.[14] The team also claimed infielder/outfielder Diego Castillo off waivers from the New York Mets.[15]
- February 5 – acquired left-handed relief pitcher Caleb Ferguson in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for left-handed pitcher Matt Gage and Minor League right-handed pitcher Christian Zazueta.[16]
- February 14 – claimed infielder Jordan Groshans off waivers from the Miami Marlins.[17]
- February 28 – claimed infielder/outfielder Jahmai Jones off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers.[18]
