A note on edit history

edit

Article title wars are depressingly common in the NYCS project, and this page has suffered more than most. It has probably been known by 4 or 5 different names.

The original edit history can be found at Broadway-Nassau-Fulton Streets (New York City Subway). For a while, the description of the station was co-mingled with the article describing the Fulton Street Transit Center project, and additional edit history can be found there. I don't know if this is non-rhetorical, but I'll respond anyway. I agree with you. This article has received massive abuse regarding naming, but it should end here. I replaced the en dash with a hyphen because en dashes are not to be used in article titles. See WP:NC#Special characters. –Imdanumber1 (talk contribs  email) 23:44, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I generally agree with this name; I think dropping the final "Street" is a bit more common, but the individual station does use it, so it's no big deal. --NE2 03:27, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
Common or not, this is the final choice, and I hope no more trouble is stirred up with naming issues. –Imdanumber1 (talk contribs  email) 03:39, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
This is the "final choice" for this article. And if they MTA does in fact rename it once the project is finished, it's not. --NE2 04:00, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have posted a message regarding this at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen, where I requested a page history merge. Please check my message there if there's anything I missed. Tinlinkin 05:42, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fulton Street / Broadway – Nassau Street (New York City Subway)Fulton Street (New York City Subway) — The Broadway – Nassau Street portion of the complex has been renamed to Fulton Street. [1] Acps110 (talkcontribs) 20:19, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

If the name has been officially changed, I don't see a problem. On an unrelated note, the layout of this article is cluttered and confusing. I hesitate to tamper with it, but I wish something can be done with it. ScottyBerg (talk) 20:55, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

What about the dab page that's currently at the proposed title?--Kotniski (talk) 09:03, 14 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
That dab page is unnecessary. Fulton Street contains the exact same information and can be linked via a hatnote. Acps110 (talkcontribs) 14:34, 15 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Don't forget that a page Fulton Street Transit Center exists already. Merger? — Train2104 (talk • contribs • count) 20:36, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't like the idea of merging the pages together until construction is complete and FTC actually opens. The two articles have very different scopes. The Fulton Street (New York City Subway) page covers the active station complex with all of its problems and the Fulton Street Transit Center covers the demolition and construction of a new unified complex. Acps110 (talkcontribs) 20:48, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
FTC is different than Fulton Street. Even the tiles on the A/C platform have been renamed to Fulton Street, irrespective of the fact that the unified centre hasn't been finished. I agree with the move, but it should be clear that Broadway-Nassau was formerly part of the name. Geoking66talk 19:39, 29 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Maybe this is obvious to New Yorkers, but I don't see how the proposed title distinguishes this site from Fulton Street (IND Crosstown Line).--Kotniski (talk) 13:29, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The proposed title comes from the station naming convention of the WikiProject – New York City Public Transportation. The parenthetical New York City Subway is used because it is a station complex on multiple lines portrayed on the map as a single entity with all platforms using the same name. To distinguish from the Crosstown line, a hatnote is at the top of the page leading to a disambiguation page. Acps110 (talkcontribs) 13:43, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK, if that's the convention, I won't object. Can we get round to doing this now? Is everyone happy with the proposal? (With the possibility of a merge in the future.)--Kotniski (talk) 16:13, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Early comments and lead

edit
  • Images are generally free-use or in public domain
  • Earwig shows no outstanding issues beyond repeated common phrases (e.g. line or place names)
  • The complex comprises four stations, all named Fulton Street. – I felt this sentence is unnecessary given it's alr stated earlier that "It consists of four linked stations"
  • "the final one in the complex to be completed, opening on February 1, 1933" – "latest to be completed and opened on February 1, 1933"
  • "in 2019, with 27,715,365 passengers." – remove comma

More to come.--ZKang123 (talk) 12:28, 12 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
